Introduction

The Alaska Energy Authority, with Municipal Light and Power as project manager, is planning to construct the Knik-Willow (Teeland-Douglas) Transmission Line Upgrade Project, which will replace an older segment of the Anchorage-Fairbanks Intertie with a new 25-mile, 230 kV transmission line between Knik and Willow. Replacing this section will improve power reliability, efficiency, and transfer capability throughout the Alaska Railbelt electrical system. Dryden & LaRue, Inc. are the project engineers.

Dryden & LaRue conducted a study in 2004 that identified possible routes for the transmission line. They selected the Matanuska Electric Association Parallel Route as the preferred alternative. This route and other alternatives will be solicited throughout the public involvement process in the coming weeks.

This website was designed as part of the public involvement program for the project. Through this website, you can find project information, submit comments, contact project management, review the proposed project route, and read project documents. Please check back frequently - public documents will be posted as they become available.
